Once a middle finger to the automotive world. Toyota will out-over-engineer the Germans, build it bigger and more comfortable than the competition, make it handle better than the others, make it faster, make it more reliable, and with no thanks to anyone else. As silly as that sounds, I am very meh on this reboot in which Toyota is half of the ass. I wish they'd let the name die with the massive firework that was the .98g-pulling, 4.6 to 60 going, Volvo 240-outliving, more-than-a-supercar Toyota. I don't know what I'm saying or where I'm going with this, but there it is.
If you don't like my opinion, there's a Jensen Healy to even things out. If you don't like the Jensen Healy or my opinion, then your opinions are really fucking terrible.

This will be accomplished by BMW, all Toyota will do is put a body and badge on it like they did with the GT86/FRS

What a cool targa
This is way cooler than the 991 Targa 4S

The real important distinction is that Toyota, especially in the 90s, did this with all their cars, not just the Supra. Everything from the cheap-ass Tercel all the way up to the LS400.

Nice car! Price is a little high but with some negotiation it would be a NP for sure. NA 2JZ is still a very good engine, and the 5 speed is carried over from many Toyotas from the past and is very robust. That's an SE, a 1995 only model that had striping down the sides, different wheels, and more things as options to reduce the price. Manual/leather combo is rare in an NA car, and white's a good color! At the end of the day, you have a nicely-sized, reasonable-weight GT that handles well, will go without issue for as long as you maintain it, has enough power, and looks fantastic (IMO). If the 500E is the high watermark of MB, the Supra is the high watermark of Toyota and the SE is the 3.2-24. Anyways, the want is strong for sure!

Haha probably. And I hope so, because the Supra was to Toyota as our space program was to the U.S. and this partnership is heresy. And as if I'm not going to catch enough shit for that, I'm going to say that I don't really like 2015 BMW. A couple of nice looking cars, none of which are as much BMW as this Supra thing will be Toyota.

Yep. Truly an amazing company during that time with all products, and the fact that the expensive cars are also so impressive considering price means that they are just all-around incredible cars.

Yeah, it'll be cool for sure. But when someone can have an E90 M3, a car that addresses all of the expectations of the M2 and exceeds them for so much less money, I can't get as excited. I'm glad they are making it, though.

The M2 will be a lot smaller than the E90, more E36 sized than anything.

Yeah, I wish I could but they are too expensive. They were my favorite car for several years, hence my username. I think that the price is justified, but inflated. Douchebros wreck them and increase rarity, making clean examples very expensive. But as a weekend car, I think they would probably be worth the price of admission if the typical owner was not such a dislikable moron.

There are some communities that I refuse to be a part of due to their members. VW and Honda come to mind. But for cars like the S2000 and Supra, I can transcend those people because the cars are that good.

Yeah, and that's a major upside. But if offered the keys to a Euro E36 M3 3.2 6MT coupe and an M2, I'd have to take the E36M. While the E36M is the perfect balance between E30 and E46—modern and classic—the M2 will probably be more of a bridge between 2 series and M3, which doesn't do so much for me. Again, pure speculation here as the M2 could impress me more than the legendary Ms, but I'm willing to give my attention to some more attainable stuff that could even check more of my boxes until it comes out!

Of course I'd take the E36, but the M2 might be my next car if things work out.

So true! Sometimes the cars are worth it. If you have the chance, look up Stu Hagen's Supra; that car restores my faith in the community when I see some spoiled asshole doing "200 on the Mexican highway and then wreck, bro!"

I just don't get the point of a robo-targa. It LOOKS AMAZING. But it's heavier than the cab? Da faq?
Manual operation targas are the only real targas!

"If you don't like the Jensen Healy or my opinion, then your opinions are really fucking terrible."
This. The Jensen Healey is awesome, general reliability issues aside.
One of my friends does race track marshalling and I went to a classics event she was marshalling at. There were two Jensen Healeys and both of them puked their guts over the racetrack in one race of another.
Bloody quick until they did that though, and I'm not sure how much is down to improper preparation before the race. After all, Talbot Lotus Sunbeams won the WRC with it in 1981 and that takes reliability as well as raw speed...

Targas are supposed to literally be a coupe with a little bit of the top being cut and removable. They're supposed to be lighter than cabrios.
When the ENTIRE roof can come off and be stored with less weight than the targa top being removed and stored then you know it's a fail
Maybe the robot is too damn heavy. Porsche should put it on a diet

I'm sure the 911 (and a bunch of other next-gen performance cars) will start losing weight, it'll become the next HP wars thing. That's what BMW did with the new M3. It's like 300 lbs lighter than the E90.

Good luck! That would be amazing. I don't remember what kind of engineering you're studying for—I've been looking forward to doing some type of engineering in college but I'm kind of stalling out here at the end of high school which is a joke...
